About Us

If you don’t know the mission, how will we know if we are accomplishing anything? Knowing our mission gives us direction!  Our mission sets us apart from other ministries and clubs.  We are not better, we are different.  There is a great 2-minute video that compares a cruise ship to a battleship.  Which one describes you?  Click here to watch.

To see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

To lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.

Our relationships will demonstrate steadfast commitment to Jesus Christ and His Word through Integrity, Serving, Teamwork and Excellence.

INTEGRITY • We will demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately and publicly. (Proverbs 11:3)

SERVING • We will model Jesus’ example of serving. (John 13:1-17)

TEAMWORK • We will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships.(Philippians 2:1-4)

EXCELLENCE • We will honor and glorify God in all we do. (Colossians 3:23-24)

To and Through the Coach

We pursue our vision and mission through the strategy of to and through the coach. We seek ministry first to coaches hearts, marriages and families. Then, when ready, we minister through coaches to their fellow coaches, teams and athlete leaders.

Billy Graham said, “A coach will impact more people in one year than the average person will in an entire lifetime.” With the influence of a coach, FCA recognizes the most strategic way to reach more athletes is to first reach the coach.

As FCA matures, we seek to make disciples through our methods of engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

ENGAGE • (1 Thessalonians 2:8)

We engage relationally by connecting with individuals and through events in many different environments by building genuine trust, sharing our lives and sharing the gospel. We strive to connect with coaches and athletes where they are on their spiritual journey.

EQUIP • (Ephesians 4:12)

After cultivating relationships and once coaches and athletes come to faith in Christ, we want to equip them with Christ-centered training, events, resources and on-going support in what it means to be a follower of Christ, growing in God’s Word and applying it to life.

EMPOWER • (2 Timothy 2:2)

Once equipped, we empower faithful leaders who desire to use their time, talents and treasures to help other coaches and athletes experience the gospel, grow in their faith and share Him with others. We desire to develop disciples who make disciples, assisting them so that they can in turn engage, equip and empower others to know and grow in Christ and lead others to do the same.

The Origins of Buckeye Border FCA

Ever wonder who Buckeye Border is? Where did we come from? Who do we reach?

Buckeye Border FCA is part of the Northwest Ohio Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Our ministry focuses on seven counties. Five counties in NW Ohio: Fulton, Henry, Defiance, Paulding, and Williams, as well as two counties in Michigan: Lenawee and Hillsdale. Seeing that we lie on the borders of Michigan and Indiana, it seemed natural to be called Buckeye Border FCA, which also distinguishes us from our Northwest Ohio office.

The Buckeye Border office is currently located in Wauseon. We have an office located at 850 West Elm Street in Wauseon, Ohio. If we are not in the office, we are visiting Huddles, schools, teams, coaches and Home team supporters.

Our Buckeye Border office has a leadership team (Board of directors) that oversees the ministries, finances, and development of our area. This leadership team meets quarterly as a whole and monthly in teams. These men and women are devoted to God and the ministry of FCA in our area and have helped launch us in the right direction.
